Mary Ann Armanious, PsyD
Pronouns: she/her/hers
I am a Postdoctoral Fellow providing psychotherapy and psychological assessments for adolescents, adults, and families. I earned my bachelor’s degree from California State University, Los Angeles, with a minor in Child Development, and my master’s and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Family Systems from Azusa Pacific University in Southern California.
Throughout my training, I have had the opportunity to work with people across the lifespan, from children and adolescents to adults and older adults. My experience includes working in schools, community mental health centers, private practice, assisted living facilities, and with court-mandated populations. I have also worked closely with parents, social workers, case managers, and other professionals to help clients feel supported both in and outside of therapy. I especially enjoy working with individuals navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, grief, and relationship or family challenges.
I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and have training in several evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Structural Family Therapy. While these approaches help guide my work, I do not believe therapy should feel one-size-fits-all. I take the time to get to know each person and understand their experiences, relationships, values, culture, strengths, and what they hope to get out of therapy.
My style is collaborative, supportive, and individualized. Together, we can make sense of the challenges you are facing, explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and find strategies that feel realistic and meaningful for your life. Most importantly, I want therapy to be a space where you feel comfortable being yourself and where you feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported.
In addition to therapy, I have experience providing psychological and neuropsychological assessments for concerns related to ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), personality, mood, and other areas of emotional and psychological functioning. I understand that the assessment process can sometimes feel overwhelming, and I strive to make it feel as comfortable, collaborative, and understandable as possible.
Creating a warm, safe, and nonjudgmental environment is at the heart of my work. I value working with people from diverse backgrounds and recognize that our cultures, identities, families, and life experiences can shape how we see ourselves and the world around us. I want my clients to know that they can bring their full selves into the room and that they will be met with curiosity, compassion, and respect.
Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy watching movies, reading, baking, and spending time at church.
