Emily St. John, MA, BCBA

Pronouns: she/her/hers

I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and certified elementary educator with more than fifteen years of experience working with children, families, and educators. My experience spans public schools, specialized educational settings, clinics, and home-based services. My combined background in education and behavior analysis allows me to support children across academic, behavioral, social, and everyday life settings.

Prior to becoming a behavior analyst, I spent eight years as a first- and third-grade classroom teacher. Since 2019, I have worked as a BCBA providing behavioral consultation and intervention, parent and caregiver training, and collaboration with educators and multidisciplinary teams. My experience includes conducting functional behavior assessments, ecological assessments, and skill-based assessments, as well as developing individualized behavior and skill-acquisition programs.

I have worked with children with a wide range of learning, behavioral, developmental, and social-emotional needs, including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental disabilities, learning difficulties, executive functioning and attention challenges, emotional dysregulation, social difficulties, and challenging behaviors. My background as both an educator and behavior analyst allows me to consider the many factors that may be affecting a child’s progress and to develop practical, individualized strategies that can be used across home, school, and community settings.

I provide executive functioning coaching and academic support for children who may have difficulty with organization, planning, task initiation, time management, flexible thinking, self-monitoring, problem solving, and completing multi-step tasks. I also provide individualized academic tutoring and learning support, with an emphasis on helping children develop effective strategies, confidence, and greater independence as learners.

I provide social skills instruction for children who may benefit from support navigating friendships and social situations, including conversation and friendship skills, perspective taking, problem solving, flexibility, self-advocacy, emotional regulation, and developing positive relationships with peers. I also work collaboratively with parents and caregivers to develop practical behavioral strategies, routines, and systems that support their child’s growing independence and success at home, at school, and in the community.

I am passionate about helping children build practical skills that extend beyond an individual session and into their everyday lives. My approach is individualized, collaborative, and strengths-based, with an emphasis on helping children and families develop strategies that are meaningful, practical, and sustainable.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my son and our dog, Tucker, as well as being with family and friends, reading, exercising, and traveling. I am also the sister of practice founder Audra Walsh, which makes being part of a team that values connection, collaboration, and a sense of family especially meaningful to me.
